More on RPT
PTG is recognized world-wide as the leading examination authority for Piano Technology and Piano Technicians, and as a provider of continuing education in Piano Technology through multiple, year-round venues through its main office in Kansas City, Kansas, and its many Chapters located throughout the USA. RPTs are also the teachers of Piano Technology and the standard which all others are compared.
Having a father and grandfather tune pianos gave me an artistic legacy and love of music. Attending McPhail Center of the Arts contributed to my experience with hands on instructors in tuning and repairing of pianos unlike any online tuning course can provide. It also contributed to my expertise and ability to pass the exams to become a Registered Piano Technician. In the past, I have also taught a piano tuning course myself at DMACC. Being involved in a PTG chapter allows for continued professional development. Not only do we present technical learning sessions for our own chapter; we also attend regional and national conferences to sharpen our skills as well as share them with our colleagues. (I am currently president of the Central Iowa Chapter of the PTG.)
